This easy homemade guacamole recipe will undoubtedly become your favorite the minute you try it!
Who doesn’t like homemade guacamole? This creamy, tangy goodness can be used as a dip, a spread or as a topping! That’s what I love about it. There’s nothing else really that comes close to being this fresh, creamy and wholesome.
Sure, you can buy those 6-pack guacamole dips from Costco but they have such a boring, one-dimensional taste to them, you know? This easy homemade guacamole recipe is just what’s missing from your life! You can have it with your morning eggs and spread it on your toast, tacos, quesadillas and burritos! It’s so versatile, you can also use it as a dip with chips and nachos!
It doesn’t take much effort or time to make this homemade guacamole recipe. Just mix in a few freshly-cut ingredients together and you’re done!
How to make the best homemade guacamole?
Begin by picking the right avocados. This is important as it can make or break your guacamole! You want the avocados to be slightly soft to the touch (not too mushy or firm). Ripe avocados are usually darker in color too. Once you pick out the right avocado, slice it in half and carefully remove the seed.
Tip: If you find only firm avocados at the market, don’t worry! Buy a couple of bananas and store your avocados with them. The avocados will ripen in 2-3 days! Be sure to refrigerate your avocados after they are ripe to prolong their shelf life.
If you’re using a knife to remove the seed, be very careful! Because I’ve come really close to cutting myself before! Then, use a spoon to scoop it out of the skin and transfer it into a medium-sized bowl.
With a fork, mash the avocado down to a paste. Then, add in the chopped chilies, zero-fat sour cream and cilantro. Season it with some lime juice, ground black pepper, garlic powder and salt! Mix everything together and you’re done. It’s that easy!
Serve the guacamole with…anything!
You can serve this homemade guacamole with your favorite dishes! I love it with my morning eggs and toast. But, my favorite pairing is with these chicken burritos! As a filling, it adds this wonderfully fresh and creamy texture to every single bite of the burrito! I also use the guacamole in tacos and quesadillas!
I hope you enjoy your homemade guacamole as much as we did!
