This tartar sauce pairs wonderfully with your favorite finger foods!
Sauces and dips are too underrated! They can truly make or break a dish! And out of all condiments, I think this tartar sauce recipe is one of my favorite ones! It is one of few dips/sauces that has levels to its flavor. It’s a perfect balance between sweet and tangy. It is super creamy and has a sweet undertone from the dill leaves.
I like my tartar sauce best with some fish and chips, which you should definitely check out!
It’s really straight forward to prepare. You need a few basic ingredients and then you pretty much mix ’em all together!
Mayonnaise is the main ingredient of this tartar sauce recipe! I used light mayonnaise, it tastes just the same as the regular one and is easy on the calories. We also require dill pickles, dill leaves, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, ground black pepper and salt.
The Worcestershire sauce is totally optional. So no need to go buy it just for the tartar sauce. And regular mustard works just fine instead of Dijon mustard!
First, finely chop the dill pickles and the dill leaves. That’s it for the chopping!
Now, just add in all the ingredients into a medium-sized bowl and mix them well.
Note: The dill pickles bring enough salt to the sauce, so taste it before you add any additional salt.
Pair it with your favorite finger foods!
Now that you have your very own homemade tartar sauce, try it out with your favorite seafood appetizers! It also pairs well with sandwiches, French fries and even with fresh veggies!
It goes brilliantly with these beer-battered fish and chips!
